Configuring Your Fees on Rhino.fi

When you get started with Rhino.fi, there are three fee settings you can configure for your account:

  • Client Surcharge – the fee you charge your end users.

  • SDA Fee – how Smart Deposit Address fees for Tron deposits are applied.

  • Gas Fee Charges - how gas fees on the destination chain for Solana and Tron are applied

This article explains how each works, what's included in your plan, and when you might need the Advanced Fee and Limit Management extension.

With both PAYG and Subscription plans, Rhino.fi covers the onchain gas costs associated with your transactions as part of your monthly cost. You don't need to worry about gas price fluctuations or the dynamic nature of network fees — that's handled for you.

There are two specific exceptions where a fixed onchain fee applies, and you can choose who pays them (see below).

Client Surcharge

The Client Surcharge is a fee that you set and that your end customers pay. You can configure it as:

  • A fixed dollar amount (e.g. $0.20 per transaction),

  • A percentage of the transaction value (e.g. 0.01% per transaction), or

  • Both combined.

The Client Surcharge is added on top of each transaction and charged to your end customer. It's then passed back to you through the end-of-month billing process: we take your subscription or PAYG cost (plus any extension costs), and rebate you the Client Surcharges accrued from your customers that month.

This gives you a simple way to add your own margin, or to recoup costs, without building any fee logic on your side — the Client Surcharge is applied, displayed, and collected as part of the standard transaction flow.

Onchain Fee Handling

While Rhino.fi covers on-chain gas costs as standard, there are two fixed fees where you can choose whether you or your end customer pays:

Smart Deposit Address (SDA) fee — Tron
A $1.40 fee applies to Tron Smart Deposit Addresses (this requires the Tron extension). By default, this is paid by you and appears in your month-end invoice. Alternatively, you can choose to pass it on to your end customer within the transaction.

Destination gas fees — Tron and Solana
A $1.40 (Tron) or $0.50 (Solana) gas fee applies to any transaction where these chains are the destination. By default, this is paid by your end customer within the transaction. Alternatively, you can choose to absorb this cost yourself, in which case it's billed to you at month end — so your customers never feel these fees.

Standard Configuration (included with PAYG & Subscription)

All PAYG and Subscription customers can configure these settings once, during onboarding, at no extra cost. With the standard configuration, your chosen settings apply globally across your account:

  • All of your customers.

  • All supported routes (chains and tokens).

Important: Without Advanced Fee and Limit Management, these settings are configured once during onboarding and cannot be changed later. If you'd like to update your configuration or apply different fees to different customers or routes, you'll need Advanced Fee and Limit Management.

When do I need Advanced Fee and Limit Management?

If you need greater flexibility, you can purchase the Advanced Fee and Limit Management extension. It's available to both PAYG and Subscription customers, and allows you to:

  • Update your configuration at any time – change your Client Surcharge or onchain fee handling whenever your fee strategy evolves.

  • Set different Client Surcharges for specific routes – for example, by source chain, destination chain, or token. (e.g. "add a $0.20 surcharge to every transaction from Solana".)

  • Configure onchain fee handling on a per-project or per-route basis – rather than one global setting.

How to manage these settings
